People for Bikes Rides the South for 400 Miles

At the end of March 25 People for Bikes riders will be cycling more than 400 miles, form Asheville, North Carolina, to Atlanta to raise awareness of hoe cyclists and cars can share the road. Sounds like a blast,  really, biking through the Appalachian Mountains on a multi-day trip with fellow cycling advocates. The group will make stops in Charlotte, North Carolina, Greenville, South Carolina, and Athens, Georgia before arriving in Atlanta.

PFB says of the 4-century ride: "Created in 2011 by six-time national cyclocross champion Tim Johnson, the series began with three Rides on Washington followed by two Rides on Chicago. These events have raised nearly $400,000 for PeopleForBikes’ non-profit foundation that supports the development of more safe, fun, convenient and appealing. The Rides showcase how bike riders and motorists can share the road, safely and easily.

"Jimmie Johnson, six-time NASCAR Sprint Cup Champion, plans to pedal with the group on day one--a challenging 130-mile route between Asheville and Charlotte. Johnson, an enthusiastic road and mountain bike rider, is a proponent of cooperation and respect among all road users."
